These trays normally work pretty well. Not perfect, but if I no longer paly a certain game and need to switch models and transport them these trays allow me to quickly transfer the old models out and put the new models in. However, Team Yankee has been a problem for me. The helicopters don't sit in these trays in a protective way. The trays are not tall enough. I used two of them together to give me the height I needed so that parts won't break off the helicopter. This didn't always work. Sometimes the rear rotor broke off during transport.
I also had trouble with the main rotors. They are fragile and I needed to take care with them. My solution was placing them on top of the tray and this tray was placed on the very top of all the trays when they were stacked.
Then the stands for the helicopters needed to be transported also. They are durable so I didn't need to worry as much about them. I put a thick piece of foam on top of the rotors above and then placed the aircraft stands on top of the foam.
So how did the Battle Foam look with the helicopters? As you can see the stands are in their own place, the helicopters are well protected, and the rotors are also well protected. It will be easy to remove the helicopters from these trays as needed. Much easier than I was doing it before.
This tray costs $14.99 each.
Tanks were another problem I had. The tray slots were too narrow to allow the turret to remain on the tank during transporting them. I was afraid the machine guns would break off.
The Battle Foam allowed the turrets to remain on the tank with no fear of breaking the machine guns. This will save me time when packing and unpacking. I don't have to get the main body of the tank out of the tray and then the turret. Then, attach the turret to the body of the tank. The turret is already attached and I just pull them out and they are ready to go.
This tray costs $12.99 each.
BMPs were as big of a problem as the tanks. I did feel that the tray slots might have been a bit too narrow for the BMPs. I was worried about parts breaking on the BMPS. Especially the main gun. It is plastic and not a very large diameter.
The men also needed a better tray for them. The tray I was using allowed their guns to get bent. Over time this would allow the guns to break.
The Battle Foam tray offered enough slots for the BMPS. However, I had some other models that I needed to place in these trays. So, I put the BMP tops for the BMPS I'm not using in a couple of slots in the trays. The BMPs I use in my game did have their own slot though. The men also have their own slot and better protection for their guns.
This tray costs $12.99 each.
The anti-aircraft models were just a bit big for the slots of the tray.
I decided to place my anti-aircraft units in the eight empty slots on the BMP's tray. In the new tray they fit very well and I can keep the turrets attached to them like I can now with my tanks.
The last tray is for my jets. Before the stands were just sitting on top of some foam.
The jets also didn't fit in a slot on the foam so I had them sitting on top of some foam too.
The tray held the jets nicely but there was a problem with the stands. Unlike the helicopter tray, the stands for the jets do not lay down in the tray. It will either stick way up as shown below or I have to figure some other way to transport them.
This tray costs $12.99 each.
That just leaves my artillery with no new home to go to. Battle Foam does not make a tray for my artillery. I may be alright with the present tray but probably not for long. Like many of the other models they are too large for the slots they are in. Also, I have to remove the turrets to transport them in this tray.
If you have a chance to buy Battle Foam for your miniatures/models I would suggest doing it. The cost was cheaper than I thought it would be for each tray. My models are well protected and I will save time packing and unpacking my models. Glad I made this purchase. Now to just figure out what to do with the jets' stands.
As always, have a good game.
